Questions on Oceanic BioCube Fish Tank?
I just got a 29 gallon BioCube fish tank and I plan on making it saltwater. This is my first saltwater tank and Im a little confused. It is a little big for my first saltwater tank, but I got because its was almost $200 off.
It comes with...
Advanced Intergrated Filtration
Adjustable Return Nozzle
Premium, dual-action filter cartridge
Independent lighting controls
Min.Max water level indicator
Locking.Quick Disconnect Ballast Connections
Fully Submersible Pump
Two Compact Fluorescent Lamps:
1-36 Watt 10,000k and 1-36 Watt True Actinic 03
Lunar Blue, Moon Glow LED lights
I was wondering if I needed different lights to have a coral reef tank or are my lights ok. I know I need a heater. Live Rock, Live Sand and all that but what else do I need?
I've been looking a nano tanks and the Oceanic bio cube for some time now, the lighting that comes stock with the tank is enough for your basic fish/anemome's, etc., but if you want to keep soft corals and more advanced invertebrates you'll need to upgrade the lighting... There's tons more information on various forums on the net, also a great site that sells mods and lightinting upgrade kits for nano tanks like the Bio Cube: nanotuners.com, and check out nano-reef.com for forum info...
Side note: You're probably gonna want to get the Protein Skimmer that they sell for that and install it, it helps to keep the water really clean. Most people seem to recommend keeping only a shallow bed of sand as too much is hard to keep clean and can help produce unwanted algae.
